In that context, here are some comments on PAI 0.8: I like the idea of PAI and it definitely has improved some of my photos. I was hoping Photo AI might have fixed the problem, but it has not. The problem is intermittent (but often), happens with all the drivers I tried (right up to the latest of course), and is a real problem because not only do I lose my work in the Topaz product, I lose work/tabs/etc, in other programs I have open. I’d think it’s MY video card/drivers/computer, but I see other folks are having the same issue. But after updating the various Topaz products over the past few months, one by one they started crashing the graphics driver/card (where all screens (3) go blank and I have to reboot the computer to recover). In the past couple years (with both the current and previous versions of the graphics driver) I had no problems and the RX580 worked well. I have the latest versions of the Topaz products and the most recent graphics driver for my RX580 4GB. Gigapixel, Denoise (and more?) crashes video card when using the RX580 for processing Product Technical Support If I can’t round-trip an image from Apple Photos to Photo AI, I will not be a customer.įor the moment, I’ve reverted back to v0.7. Now, Photos users must export versions of their images and then re-import, causing duplicate images and extra effort in the workflow. I don’t know where it’s saving the image, the app remains open and doesn’t return the user to Photos. Photo AI v0.8 no longer works like v0.7, saving edits doesn’t register with External Editors. Saving returns to the Photos edit module, and all changes are viewable and you can revert to original if desired. When processing concludes, the save window closes, the app quits and the user is returned to Photos in the External Extensions extension where you can select Cancel or Save Changes. To be clear, while working on an image in Photos, you can select External Editors from the extensions menu, select DeNoise AI, the app launches, make any edits necessary and then save the changes. I reverted back to v3.2 and haven’t upgraded. DeNoise AI and GigaPixel AI still do, Sharpen AI changed around v3.3, where you couldn’t save an image back into the Photos Library. I was able to round-trip a jpeg from Photos via an older app extension called External Editors. I’ve been using v0.7 last week in connection with Apple Photos. 35 ! So for me it is progress, add brush adjust for selection, court martial the RAW team, and feed the whole process loads of uppers to drive it faster. File in PS all looked as bad as the v7 RAW conversion, I am using a reference screen with average delta E of. Checked again to make sure no RAW adjustment was dialed in and it was all set to zero. When processed the file as DNG and opened in Photoshop I was horrified to see it looked way too bright, not at all like preview. Changed the menu to include noise reduction ( auto values) and it now noise adjusted the background and only sharpened the subject ! This time no nasty sharpen of the oof areas or the white car ( woo hoo ) Unlike v7 where the raw conversion was horrid in terms of colour and saturation, this preview looked much better… sadly that is where the good news ends. Then processed for screen using auto, and noticed that the noise adjustment was limited to the selected area and not background. Noticed onscreen that the selection of the car ( the Porsche shot) was not 100%, would like to brush adjust. Opened as standalone and was pleased to see the RAW adjustment menu.
